Recently Google launched Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) version to keep your Google search data as secured one. Your search user data, password and your online usage with Google, etc., now become more secured with new SSL feature. Visit the secured version of Google here, for better understanding you can feel the following changes in SERP.

  • With SSL , the usual ‘http’ web address will be changed into secured ‘https’.
  • You can experience a special logo as like in the below image

More about SSL:

I am just curious to check Google’s SSL search feature and read this help page, and will give some essence from that.

  • With SSL, there will be encrypted search solution between you and Google.
  • Since there is need to set-up as secured connection between Google and user, there will be slower browser experience for you.
  • SSL also has some limitations, if any system is infected with malware or any virus, then SSL may work with less-efficiency.

Some points regarding this secured version,

  • We can’t view the regular top navigation like Image, News since its in beta-version, its not available in all Google services.
  • There might slower browser experience but for you will get same SERP
  • Google still tracking your search data for search personalization and other Google services
  • Literally, Google will track all your search records but it won’t let others (third party) to track your data

Since it is in beta-stage, we can expect that Google will add some more features and will come up with a more effective one in future.

Impact on SEO:

You may feel that this feature is good in security aspects but you have to realize that Google’s SSL will create more troubles for SEO’s in future.

  • This feature won’t let any third party search analytics tool to track the traffic details. So if you want to know your website traffic details, you should stick on Google Analytics, even if you don’t like that.
  • Forget about third party keyword research tool, analytics tools, etc.. – they are not gonna be effective in near future if Google SSLcomes out of beta-stage.

If you want to use the Google SSL version as your default search engine, you can use
