Google squared vs Wolfram Alpha – Which one beats other?

Google has launched out an experimental new search product called “Google Squared.” Google squared fetches and organizes facts from across the Internet in an online spreadsheet. Wolfram Alpha is like an search engine that has its own database and provides answers to wide range of search query. Both search engine provides structured data but there are some differences. Let’s discuss about that.

Google squared searches from the Web to find the types of facts you might be interested in, extracts them and presents them in a meaningful way. It collect the unstructured information related to user’s query and converted that unstructured data into structured data and puts search results into a convenient spreadsheet format. Wolfram Alpha is not like other search engine to link us directly to other web pages based on our keyword. It’s like an computation knowledge engine that provide us an answer to the best of abilities. Wolfram Alpha is more compact and answers all questions from extensible database.

Wolfram alpha also provides structured data but Google squared differed from wolfram by allowing us to search its database. Wolfram’s databases can store only 10 terabytes of information, its only an tiny fraction of data on the Web. Google squared can take mass data from the existing web and displays in form of tables.

Wolfram Alpha can easily solve our problem in sequence, calculus and it also compute other kind of topic like people, city etc. Alpha won’t answer like natural language queries, we have to specify our query in format of syntax or in form of notations. It’s some quite bit intuitive process. Searches done on Google squared are more user friendly and provides all the available data depending on the search query.

Wolfram Alpha can answer mathematical equations, but in Google Squared it provides some relevant links and information from the web.. For instance if we enter our date of birth in wolfram alpha is displays the born of day, year , months, week etc including the sunrise, sunset and duration of daylight for the corresponding day.

Although Wolfram alpha is a knowledge driven engine that displays detailed answers to scientific and technical questions. However, if we enter some specific terms, wolfram displays results in wrong way and it returns result for different words. If we enter some search query like ‘computer’ in Wolfram alpha it display some irrelevant result. But in Google Squared it provide some relevant links and images for ‘computer’.

In Google Squared we can modify our square by adding or removing them. By default the database contains 10 rows and 6 columns. It is also possible to start with a blank square an and add items and information manually. But no such options are there in Wolfram alpha.

The search results may be narrow or general or enormous depending on the query of the users. More over it helps user to double check the information provided. We can also save the squares by sign in to our account. We can view our favorite squares by clicking on the “saved squares” menu. It also helps us to double check the data. In Wolfram alpha there is no such user friendly facilities .

Wolfram alpha is live and every one using that amazing search tool. Google squared is still in beta stage and it collects the search results from Google. Google squared is being improved daily to prove its use to students and people doing researches. If Google is able to arrange all this structured information in tabular format, then Google squared will become a wonderful means of searching and produce tremendous changes. Lets wait for the release of Google Squared…

Google Squared appears to be using at least some if not many of the same methods and systems as set forth by me more than two years ago in my patent application. In fact there are many more methods and systems disclosed in my patent application which I believe will help resolve certain inaccuracies found in current Google Squared application.
