Google renames it’s ‘Local Business Center’ as ‘Google Places’. This is largely a name change with the addition of some new features. Google wanted to connect the businesses with the recently created Place Pages. According to Google, there are already four million businesses already claimed their Place page and created more than 50 million places around the world to help people make more informed about places.
In Google maps, We can get to a Place Page by clicking on “more info” in search results, or by clicking “more info” in the mini-bubble. An entire page of rich details, like photos, videos, a Street View preview, nearby transit, reviews and related websites can be seen on the Place page.
Under Local Business Center, the businesses were enabled to include hours of operation, photos, videos, coupons, product offerings, communicate with the customers and get insights. In addition to the above tools, Google Places allows advertising opportunity for businesses in select cities that can make their listings stand out on Google.com and Google Maps with Tags for just $25 a month flat fee.
One of the outstanding new feature is the customized QR code, which allow businesses in the US to download from the dashboard of Google Places, is a unique code that can be placed in business cards or other marketing materials, and customers can scan them with certain smartphones to be taken directly to the mobile version of the Place Page for that business.
